Employers do amazing things, but few young people get to hear about the incredible opportunities available to them as they start to think about their careers.
By volunteering to support local students and schools, employers can showcase their business, their industry and their impact whilst informing and inspiring the next generation.
Become a ‘Give an Hour’ Volunteer
‘Give an Hour’ volunteers can engage with any Hub school in the regio, picking opportunities at a date and time that suits you. Volunteers will receive a half-termly “Volunteer Update”- an email bulletin listing careers events taking place in local schools throughout the academic year.
Events may include mock interviews, ‘Guess the professionals’, careers fairs, mock assessment centres or custom projects in schools. The Careers Hub will also keep track of your sector and role and may contact you directly with tailored opportunities.
Join our Volunteer Community and sign up to receive opportunities by email:

Become an ‘Enterprise Adviser’
Enterprise Advisers can come from any industry sector or professional background – whether you are employed, self-employed or retired, your individual experience is what matters.
You will work with one or more specific school or college, supporting their senior leadership team and careers leader to:
- Strategically to develop and evaluate their careers plan
- Provide a valuable employer's perspective on how a school or college can embed labour market information and opportunities into the careers programme
- Potentially work directly with young people to give them vital information and experience of working with someone from local industry
- Engage with other local businesses and employers in your network to put a wide variety of careers opportunities at the heart of young people's education
Enterprise Advisers are asked to commit to at least one engagement and meeting per term but have an unparalleled opportunity to shape local careers education programmes and give something back to their community.
You will be supported by Careers Hub staff and resources from the Careers and Enterprise Company, providing an opportunity to enhance your skills and continued personal development.
