It is also the basis on which all forms of technology are built. About the Course: The course promotes sound understanding and application of physical concepts along with self-reliance in tackling theoretical and practical independent tasks. Growth of logical and numerical ability accompanies the development of the subject material. This goes hand-in-hand with your development, increasing your responsibility for your own learning. Such skills are important in future professional work and particularly so in areas which require a predominantly logical or numerate approach. Physics teachers at Hills Road are exceptionally experienced and they enjoy a positive working relationship with their students. You will be assigned to a learning team within your class to promote mutual support and many class activities will be conducted within these teams. There is a peer mentoring scheme for interested students to support each other and there are also daily lunchtime workshops to support your learning. In addition, teachers are happy to meet with you outside lessons to discuss your progress. Opportunities unique to this course: Students can participate in several external competitions such as the Physics Olympiad and UK Space Design Competition. We host a variety of talks from guest speakers and organise trips to external organisations such as CERN. Students can work with leading experts from industry through the Launchpad and Engineering Education Schemes or explore university life through the Headstart taster courses.
