Our Enterprise Advisers come from a diverse range of industry sectors and professional backgrounds, working closely with specific schools or colleges to develop their careers programmes. Some of our 65 current EAs have been supporting their schools for over six years.

About our Enterprise Advisers

EAs come from all industry sectors, from large multi-national organisations to self-employed professional consultants & sole traders. They all bring something unique to the schools they are supporting and liaise primarily with the Careers Leader/Senior Leadership Team to:

  • Strategically develop and evaluate the school careers programme

  • Act as a critical friend

  • Offer an employer's perspective on how a school or college can embed Labour Market Information (LMI)

  • Signpost to engaging with local businesses and employers in their professional networks which may bring about additional opportunities for young people

  • Engage directly with students through school events, if they wish

Although the role of the Enterprise Adviser is a strategic role, many do enjoy supporting school events such as mock interviews, assembly talks and careers fairs.

Enterprise Advisers can be matched with Hub schools in various ways:

1-2-1 Match:Those who want to primarily work exclusively and develop a longer term partnership (12 months or more).

Agile support:Support provided by EAs which includes a clearly defined outcome (using intended outcome field). This is for shorter term projects. We have purposely not defined a minimum timeframe for a project to allow Hub’s flexibility, the ability to make judgements and to harness innovative practice.

Both: This applies to an EA who provides both 1-2-1 support to a specific institution whilst providing ‘agile’ support to another institution.

Get Involved

Schools wishing to engage with an Enterprise Adviser should contact their Enterprise Co-ordinator.

Enterprise Coordinators will work closely with a school/college to ensure that if they would like the support of an Enterprise Adviser, that person will be carefully selected to meet the needs of the school, and likewise, the Enterprise Adviser will be best suited to that particular school.

Meetings between the Careers Leader and Enterprise Adviser take place at least once a term, discussing the school's needs for the forthcoming year.

Regular EA Network meetings are held termly, online or face to face, giving EAs the opportunity to come together, share best practice and receive updates from the Careers Hub and Careers & Enterprise Company.
